Kursen kommer att ges höstterminen 1998 med början i oktober. Sannolikt kommer den att ges torsdagar mellan kl. 15 och 18. Intresserade skall skicka anmälan till Eva Jansson, evaj@dsv.su.se.

Motivation for the course

Many more Swedish papers and presentations would be accepted for international scientific conferences if the presentation was right.

Discussion and review of different kinds of publications such as theses and articles reporting theoretical and/or empirical results, survey articles, position papers, book reviews, abstracts, etc. Exercises in writing (content as well as language) own abstracts, reviews, and papers. Students not familiar with WWW will be initially given additional lectures on how to work with the WWW and how to prepare their own pages for the WWW. All students will form a Program Committee and be assigned a number of real submitted papers to review and evaluate (about 6-7 papers per student). Students will then be allocated accepted papers for presentation in a simulated conference.

Note: the whole course is based on the use of the WWW and the use of e-mail for messages and for delivering student assignments

Prerequisites

The student must be registered as a doctoral or licentiate student at SU or at KTH.

Course Requirements

Examination is through electronic reporting of assigned work (abstracts, reviews, articles, etc.), through formally reviewing submitted papers, and through oral presentation at the conference.

Time

Lectures 24 h, plus time for Program Committee meetings, the conference, and time for exploring the WWW.
